Mitchell Elementary School
To support the growing communities of Mitchell, Manitoba, and the surrounding area, the Hanover School Division undertook a significant expansion of Mitchell Elementary School.
The $4.5 million, 11,142-square-foot addition features five new classrooms, a learning commons, a multi-purpose room, an entrance vestibule, washrooms, and service spaces.
Renovations to the existing school expanded and modernized the kindergarten classrooms, upgraded administration and staff areas, and consolidated educational support and resource spaces to improve efficiency and collaboration.
The project team worked closely with the Hanover School Division to identify priorities and set a scope that met the school's needs while staying within budget. Consultation sessions with administration, teachers, and educational support staff helped ensure the design supported the school's programming and learning goals.
The project achieved LEED Silver certification. It was carefully planned and built in phases so the school could remain open and running throughout construction.
Our team at echoic was proud to furnish this project with high-quality school furniture, including student desks, chairs, activity tables, soft seating, and educator furnishings, among other pieces, helping to create welcoming, practical spaces for students and staff alike.
